Black Vinyl 1983<\/p><p>Genialer Composer, Multi-Instrumentalist. Seit 1973 bekannt f\u00fcr lange Tracks, fast immer alle Instrumente selbst eingespielt. Tubular Bells, Ommadawn, Hergest Ridge. Der Wechsel hin zu kommerzielleren Alben begann mit QE2, Five Miles Out und Crises (1983). Wobei Moonlight Shadow und Shadow on the Wall die bekanntesten Auskopplungen vom Album Crises sind. Damals h\u00f6rte ich nur Seite 2. Heute nur noch Seite 1. Wobei der Long-Runner Crises allerdings auch seine Schw\u00e4chen hat. Technisch ist das alles ohne Tadel.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/theprogthief.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MOCBC1280.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7190 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/theprogthief.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MOCBC350.jpg\" alt=\"Backcover der LP Crises von Mike Oldfield\" width=\"349\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theprogthief.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MOCBC350.jpg 349w, https:\/\/theprogthief.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MOCBC350-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theprogthief.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MOCBC350-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 349px) 100vw, 349px\" \/><\/a><\/p><p>\u201cThe Watcher and the Tower, Waiting Hour by Hour\u201d. The long track \u201cCrises\u201d covers the entire side A and is a little reminiscent of Tubular Bells and it briefly picks up the melody of \u201cForreign Affair\u201d. At times the track is very rocky for Mike Oldfield\u2019s standards. According to Mike Oldfield, \u201cCrises was created for my own satisfaction and side B for the satisfaction of the fans\u201d. I didn\u2019t ask Mike Oldfield to do this, although I thought side 2 was better at the time. The track \u201cCrises\u201d is still worth listening to today, apart from the vocal passages, which I think are superfluous. The rest is more commercial than we are used to from Mike up to 1983. Still the highlight and well done. Side two starts with \u201cMoonlight Shadow\u201d. A real pop song, sung by Maggie Reilly and of course in the charts. \u201cHigh Places\u201d is not my favourite and \u201cForreign Affair\u201d sounds monotonous despite Maggie\u2019s vocals. I don't understand what \"Taurus 3\" is about. A flamenco? Technically clean, but just doesn't fit the theme. \"Shadow on the Wall\" is simple rock, unmistakably Mike on the guitars. Sung by Roger Chapman's excellent voice. Side 2 is commercial through and through. However, Mr. Oldfield knew how to bring together good musicians. Commercial? Yes, but technically on top.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/theprogthief.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MOCLPB1280.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7197 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/theprogthief.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MOCLPB350.jpg\" alt=\"LP Crises von Mike Oldfield, Seite B\" width=\"348\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theprogthief.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MOCLPB350.jpg 348w, https:\/\/theprogthief.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MOCLPB350-298x300.jpg 298w, https:\/\/theprogthief.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MOCLPB350-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/><\/a><\/p><p>Side 1 great, side 2 ugh? Even highly commercial music by Mike Oldfield is technically and musically well done. I listen to both sides, start with side 2 and then look forward to \u201cCrises\u201d.
