Forever Is The World
CD. Jewelcase. 2009.
After Liv Kristine was fired in 2003 and the band changed management and record label, in 2006 the band presented Neil Sigland as their new singer. In the same year the album "Storm" was released which was generally well received. In 2009 another album, "Forever is the World", was released, which cemented the return to the gothic metal and dark rock past. Although Neil Sigland as a "replacement" could not match Liv Kristine's charisma, but she was rightly received positively. "Forever Is The World" (FTW) was also received positively, but Theatre Of Tragedy broke up in October 2010. The last album, the live album "Last Curtain Call", was released in 2011. It was probably due to internal differences. Whatever the reason, I mourn the loss of one of my favorite bands. Whether it was gothic metal, dark rock, synth and back again, and even a change of singer, I always liked the music.
"Act as if there's no Tomorow", this text can be found in the great opener "Hide and Seek". Raymond Istvàn Rohonyi is allowed to growl again and Neil Sigland's voice forms a bright contrast. "A Nine Days Wonder", "Revolution" and "Transition" are easy on the ears. "Hollow" and "Astray" then stick in your head for longer, "Hollow" is my second highlight, Sigland's voice fits wonderfully. "Frozen" and "Illusions", on the other hand, are followers for me, but they don't throw me out. "Deadland" is more tempo again. Highlight 3 and with "Forever is the World" follows Highlight 4, a well-made ballad.
Overall, it's more dark rock than gothic metal. There are no real depths. Sigland's voice is pleasant and fits the songs, which are mostly sung by her alone. This CD ends up in my player every now and then and I can't understand the criticism of the mastering, apart from a few sharp 's' sounds. The design of the CD is good. It's a shame that this good album was the last Studio-Album by the band overall. R.I.P. Theatre Of Tragedy.
