The Essential by Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters
„The Essential“
Rock. Double LP, black Vinyl, 2022. Compilation
To be clear: The Foo Fighters aren't my band. That doesn't change the fact that I have respect for the musicians and like some of their songs. For example, "All My Life," "The Pretender," or "Everlong."
Dave Grohl wrote his own songs as a member of Nirvana, but they weren't included. It wasn't until after Kurt Cobain's death that the Foo Fighters project was formed, and the first demo was released as Foo Fighters in 1995. The rest is history; the Foo Fighters have been one of the most successful American rock bands ever since. This is thanks in part to the charismatic Dave Grohl.
Musically and technically, the Foo Fighters are top-notch. Their music is melodic rock, with powerful drumming. However, Foo Fighters' success doesn't depend solely on their commercial music. They give their all to their fans, especially live, and they do it to the last drop of sweat. Or with a broken leg, when Dave Grohl fell at a concert in 2015 and continued playing on stage with a cast and a doctor.
Not all albums are included on this compilation, but I won't be critical about it. It's simply impossible to please everyone. Fans will own all the albums anyway, so I recommend it to casual listeners (like me!).
