Blues
With all due respect, this is blues rock at its finest! From Denmark? Christian Hede Madsen? Doesn't he do stoner rock as the singer and guitarist of Pet the Preacher? Yes, he's the one who gives us fine blues rock. Pure and simple, no prog. Blues rock? Not just that. Violin here and some stoner there.
The basic core is dark and melancholic. Like a dystopian journey through (Northern) Europe's future wasteland. “Bad Dreams” with its violin and slide guitar takes us to a bar in the southern states of the USA. “No Roads Left to Follow” simply takes us along with its strong rhythm. Rock, calm, rock. “Slow Pain” starts slowly, transporting me to a dark bar, cigar and whiskey. And then the woman on the Rhodes, Camilla Munch, sings along and it fits. I enjoy this song loudly with headphones. I can hardly pick out any of the 9 songs, I like all of them very much. “No Roads Left to Follow”, “Slow Pain”, “Havoc” and “Savior”. And where Camilla Munch sings along.
Is this alternative blues? With elements of stoner rock, lyrical darkness that goes beyond "my wife is gone and she has the dog too". Violin. Well thought-out structures. No matter what category it belongs to, the music is simply good.
