„Popa Chubby & Friends“
Blues, Blues Rock. CD. 28.03.2025
V2/Bertus kindly made this CD available to me.
Ted Horowitz, born in 1960 and better known as Popa Chubby, has fulfilled a long-held dream with this album. He has gathered a group of the best blues musicians around him and dedicated this CD to Freddie King. This is explained in detail on the inside of the CD.
The who's who of the best (unfortunately only male) blues musicians is here.
Joe Bonamassa
Mike Zito
„Kingfish“ Ingram
Arthur Nelson
Albert Castglia
Eric Gales
V. D. King
All 11 songs are of outstanding quality. I don't think it's necessary to single out any one song; anyone familiar with these blues musicians knows what they're in for: very clean, organic, and lively blues and blues rock. The guitar playing on offer is, of course, magnificent.
Not only blues fans will get their money's worth here. The musicians are all virtuosos on their instruments. Mike Zito also serves as producer. And it's well done; there's nothing to complain about on this CD.
I just would have liked to have heard female blues guitarists, like Samantha Fish or Ally Venable. But it's not my dream.
