The Gathering - Alben
The Dutch band The Gathering has been accompanying me since Anneke van Giersbergen became their singer in 1994. Instead of doom-death metal, “Mandylion” (1995) still had metal, but also progressive rock. When Anneke van Giersbergen left the band after the album “Home” (2006), I no longer paid much attention to the albums that followed with their new singer, Silje Wergeland. Wrongly so, because The Gathering is still a great band with her as well. In 2025, after 16 years, Silje Wergeland left the band, which has officially announced no further plans after 2025/26.
In 2000, following "How To Measure A Planet?", a more rock-oriented album was released. A balancing act between speed and tranquility.
Black Light District
by The Gathering
The EP “Black Light District” was released in 2002 to launch the band's own label, Psychedelic Records (founded 1999). Small EP, but mighty? CD.
Sleepy Buildings
by The Gathering
An Acoustic Evening. Live 2004. For me this is the best live album by The Gathering from the Anneke van Giersbergen era.
2006 not only brought a new album, “Home,” but also a turning point.
