While "Goldener Strom" (2022) featured techno beats colliding with dark wave, distorted flute, and even a touch of Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave), here we find a much more stripped-down approach. Even more central? Her voice. On "Interior" (2024), we encounter a significantly more contemplative Rosa. Here, she turns her inner self outward. The minimalist music leaves ample space for her voice, which ranges from yearning to ethereal. And that, along with her defiance of musical conventions, is precisely what I find so captivating about Rosa.

Never before has an artist personally sent me their album and even apologized for the delay. Which isn't necessary at all, because I'm happy to wait for good music! 

A booklet with lots of information about the work is also included. Exemplary, in my opinion.

Essentially, it's about what we and Rosa expect from life. She explores this through her voice, playing with different tones. The themes range from death to addiction and love. How do I come to terms with my body? The beauty of this album lies in the fact that the songs aren't solely about Rosa; we listeners can also see ourselves reflected in them.

Every track sounds different. I'd particularly like to highlight the multi-layered "By Gaining Many Somethings", almost entirely accompanied by the flute. "Just Killing Time" features Rosa again accompanying herself, supported almost exclusively by the bass. On the pastoral "Rain Upon God's Hill" Rosa is joined by guest musician Joshua Ben Joseph. The remaining tracks aren't really weak, and I always listen to the whole album. It's just that the aforementioned songs have really resonated with me.

A simple conclusion about a multifaceted album. The vinyl record does justice to the quiet passages thanks to its minimal tendency to crackle. Criticism of the very minimalist accompaniment rolls off me, because Rosa has created an atmospherically rich album here. Not just a record, but a work of art.
