Octane Twisted by Porcupine Tree

LP Octane Twisted von Porcupine Tree, Cover der 4-LP Live Box

Dear Steven Wilson, as a "fan," I don't care about the "brand" Porcupine Tree. I'm interested in your music and I thought it was a shame that PT would not be making music for an indefinite period of time. When Octane Twisted was released in 2012, the concert in Chicago (plus three songs from the Royal Albert Hall) had already been two years ago, and Porcupine Tree had already been put on ice. Steven Wilson was pursuing his solo career. For some, the story surrounding the band at that time clouds the quality of this album. I think that's wrong.

This 4-LP box set from Transmission Records from 2021 contains the entire album The Incident live in one go, plus three tracks live from the Royal Albert Hall. Side H contains no music, but does contain an etched reverse by designer Carl Glover. In addition to all the songs from The Incident, the album also includes “Hatesong”, “Stars Die”, “Russia on Ice/The Pills I Am Taking”, “Bonni the Cat”, “Even Less”, “Dislocated Day” and “Arriving Somewhere but not Here”.

Was OT simply carelessly brought onto the market in 2012? As a farewell to PT, to throw something at the sad fans? Wrong even then. Top sound, top production, The Incident completely live. The box was re-released by Transmission Records in 2021 as a remaster made of high-quality, thick cardboard. The 4 LPs in black lie flat and, apart from the "pin-hole", are flawless, sound-wise anyway. The LPs have been put in sleeves printed on both sides. Their quality is also very good.

Band Porcupine Tree, alle vier Mitglieder. Offizielles Promobild.

There is no need to discuss PT's music any further. Nobody disputes that Steven Wilson is the mastermind. From the right:
Steven Wilson – Vocals, Guitar
Colin Edwin – Bass
Gavin Harrison – Drums
Richard Barbieri – Keyboards
