In 2005, Patterson left Antimatter, and Moss continued working on the band alone. However, Moss invited Danny Cavanagh of Anathema to join him as a guest musician. The press received "Leaving Eden" very positively.
The question of whether Antimatter would still be Antimatter without Duncan Patterson is one I answer with a resounding yes. Anyone who can't connect with Mick Moss's voice or who can't or won't follow the mood of the always fitting music in its dark emotionality is missing out on a masterpiece of atmosphere.
“Redemption”, “Another Face In The Window” with its violin and the powerful “Ghosts”, also with violin, create an atmosphere that immediately captivates me. The remaining songs are equally impressive. "Freak Show" is a must-listen! I've rarely heard an album that has so completely gripped me with its melancholy. Even "Forever Autumn" by Lake Of Tears, an excellent album, doesn't affect me like "Leaving Eden". A magnificent album, magnificent musicians.
It's about the loss of things that give you security: friendship, comfort, relationships. "Another Face In The Window" is, for me, a lonely, probably older person who doesn't want to become just another face in a window. But out there, the world is merciless. There's probably a television or radio playing in the background. This creates an image for me: lonely and sad. The atmosphere oozes from every pore.
"Leaving Eden" was written by Mick Moss alone. I don't see it as a concept album with a continuous storyline. However, it does have a common thread that runs through the entire album. And as a listener, I can hear that too.

Difference between CD and LP. "Leaving Eden" sounds very good to me on CD. On vinyl, it sounds smoother and more defined. There are no scratches. Unfortunately, my copy is significantly warped. While it sounds excellent, yet another new vinyl record is warped. Hardly any of my vinyl records, some of which are 50 years old, have this problem as severely as some new records these days.
